Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about the places, seasons, customs and shared life of rural sport. Send proposals through the Contact page; please do not submit a complete article unless we have agreed to see one.

What we welcome

Ideas might explore how a rural sporting place is used, what a recurring custom means, how the sporting calendar meets the seasons, or how people make room for shared play. We favour evergreen subjects with a clear point and a reader who will come away seeing a familiar detail differently.

A useful pitch

Tell us the proposed subject, the central question, why it suits Ruralsports Culture and what makes your approach distinct. Note the kind of material you would draw on and flag any claims that need verification. Keep the proposal concise and include a brief description of relevant experience without overstating it.

Accuracy and tone

Pitches should be original, respectful of the people and places discussed, and grounded in details that can be checked. We are not looking for promotional copy, unverified local claims or advice that depends on safety-critical checks or rules that vary by place.

How to send it

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, then describe your pitch in the message. A proposal is not a commission; please wait for an agreement before preparing a full draft.

Our point of view

Place is part of the game

Rural sport is shaped by more than play. We attend to the land, the seasons and the people who make a place for it.
